About Me
I am Kathryn Mei of Mei Bee Art. I am a INFP-T, Pisces, Water Rooster, part of the LGBT+ Community, and a Hufflepuff. I spend most of my time doodling art concepts, playing games on twitch, or talking/playing games with to my closest friends Konomi (also referred to as KK), August, Kat, Pudz (Therealpuddingkitty), Zippo, Raz, Maddy (Pockyryu), Ashliegh (Dark Gaming), Audrey (Maintaining Mediocrity), and Heather (Kittynaut). My love for Japan was seeded at a very young Age. When I was 3 (1996) my Mother's friend went to Japan and came back with the ugliest Pikachu plushy you have ever seen; to this day i still don't know what type of material it was made out of. He told my mother that Pokemon was big in Japan and it was likely to become big everywhere. My mother said there is no way that something so ugly (the plushy) would ever become popular, we all know how that turned out (≧▽≦)
As I grew older I learned to love more about Japanese culture outside of Pokemon and Anime. My best friend KK is First generation Japanese-American and I often ask her Questions about Japanese culture, to the point when KK asks her mother a culture question, she assumes it is me who is asking (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄) I love sharing what I learn about culture with others, especially through my art. Fun Story about my teruterubozu pin, I didn't know what a teruterubozu was called i just knew people in Japan put it up in their windows when it rained. When I went to ask KK about what it was called I asked "what is the weather ghost called?" After a bit of a confused pause she helped me figure out what it was called, there may have been laughing afterwards, and still some jokes about it (⁄ ⁄>⁄ ▽ ⁄<⁄ ⁄)
Growing up I never had a clear plan of what I wanted to do with my life, all I knew was I wanted to work with animals, do something creative, and run my own business. Now I run my own art business and get to snuggle my cats every day, now if only I could incorporate my art business and a cat cafe (≧▽≦)
As an Artist I am most often inspired by Japanese Culture, and cute things. For Each piece of art I make, I try to put a lot of research, love, and make it overtly cute. My biggest hopes are that my art will ignite a passion to learn about Japanese culture, and inspire others' creativity in their own art! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
